HUBUNGAN POLA TIDUR DAN STATUS GIZI DENGAN KELANCARAN PRODUKSI ASI PADA IBU NIFAS DI KABUPATEN PEKALONGAN
Dinda Ramandhani, Nina Zuhana
ABSTRAK
Pendahuluan:

THE CORRELATION BETWEEN SLEEP PATTERNS AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS WITH THE SMOOTHNESS OF BREAST MILK PRODUCTION AMONG POSTPARTUM WOMEN IN PEKALONGAN
Introduction:
The smooth production of breast milk is one of the important factors contributing to the success of exclusive breastfeeding. During the postpartum period, maternal sleep patterns and nutritional status need to be considered because they are related to physical condition and the fulfillment of energy and nutrient requirements during breastfeeding. Poor sleep patterns and suboptimal nutritional status are presumed to affect the smoothness of breast milk production. However, the correlation between these two factors and the smoothness of breast milk production has shown varied results. This study aims to determine the correlation between sleep patterns and nutritional status with the smoothness of breast milk production among postpartum women in Pekalongan.
Methods:
This study employed a quantitative analytical design with a crosssectional approach. The study was conducted from June 8 to July 3, 2026, in the working areas of three community health centers (Puskesmas) in Pekalongan. The sample consisted of 53 postpartum women who met the inclusion criteria and were selected using cluster random sampling. Sleep patterns were measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), nutritional status was assessed using MidUpper Arm Circumference (MUAC), and the smoothness of breast milk production was assessed using a breast milk production smoothness questionnaire. Univariate analysis was performed using frequency distributions and percentages, while bivariate analysis was conducted using Fisher’s Exact Test.
Results:
The majority of respondents had poor sleep patterns, comprising 48 respondents (90.6%), had a nutritional status indicating no risk of Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED), comprising 41 respondents (77.4%), and had smooth breast milk production, comprising 42 respondents (79.2%). There was no significant correlation between sleep patterns and the smoothness of breast milk production (p=0.571) or between nutritional status and the smoothness of breast milk production (p=0.244). The odds ratio (OR) for nutritional status was 2.249, with a 95% CI of 0.570–10.353, indicating a tendency toward a greater likelihood of insufficient breast milk production among mothers at risk of CED; however, this association was not statistically significant.
Conclusion:
Sleep patterns and nutritional status were not significantly associated with the smoothness of breast milk production. Other factors should be considered in future research.
