Education is needed so that primiparous mothers are able to breastfeed properly. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of lactation management education on breastfeeding skills among primiparous mothers. The design of this study was an quasy experimental study with a two-group pretest and posttest. Consecutive sampling was used with a total of 40 respondents divided into two groups equally (control group: 20 respondents and intervention group: 20 responden). Observation sheets was used for documenting breastfeeding skills. The results of this study shows the analysis in the control group and intervention before being given lactation management education showed that as many as 36 responden (90%) of respondents did not practice good nursing skills. By using Mann-Whitney statistical test, p value of 0.001, there is an influence of lactation management education on primiparous breastfeeding skills. The conclusion of this study is an effective lactation management education may improve the skills of breastfeeding among mothers. This study recommend for health workers should provide education on lactation management to ensure mothers who have infants are able to breastfeed properly.
