Current phenomena showed that still a lot of early feeding of complementary feeding to infants less than 6 months old. The education about supplementary breastfeeding is one of the most important efforts so that mother who have babies aged 0-6 months are motivated to provide appropriate complementary breastfeeding food. This study aimed to determine the effect of breastfeeding complementary food education on the motivation of appropriate breastfeeding complementary feeding. This research design was a quasy experimental study with a one group pretest and post test approach. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with a total of 20 respondents. The data collection tool was a questionnaire. The results showed that before being given an intervention a small portion (15%) of respondents had motivation in providing appropriate breastfeeding complementary foods in high category. After being given the intervention the majority (65%) of the respondents had high motivation to provide appropriate complementary breastfeeding to their infants. Thus, there was a significant influence of breastfeeding complementary food education on the motivation of appropriate breastfeeding complementary feeding to the mothers of infants aged 0-6 months with a ρ value of 0.01 (<0.05). The results of this study recommends that nursing staff should work closely with midwives are expected to improve health education for prospective mothers about providing appropriate complementary breastfeeding foods to increase the motivation of mothers in providing appropriate complementary breastfeeding foods.
