So that parents play an important role in their children's daily activities to guide and encourage their children to be independent. Resilience is the capacity to maintain the ability to function competently in the face of life stressors. Resilience of parents who have mentally retarded children are able to adapt and remain strong or resilient can overcome conflict and feelings of decline by finding a way out.This study aims to determine the picture of parental resilience in caring for mentally retarded children. This research is quantitative research with descriptive research design.The sampling technique used was purposive random sampling, namely in the Wiradesa State Elementary School, Pekalongan District, which amounted to 90 respondents.The data collection tool uses a parent resilience questionnaire. The results showed that 45 respondents (50.0%) had good resilience, 45 respondents (50.0%) had less resiliencSuggestions for parents to be able to understand the needs of children such as learning tools and understand the interests of children's talents
