HUBUNGAN ANTARA DUKUNGAN KELUARGA TERHADAP KONSEP DIRI PADA PENDERITA FILARIASIS DI KABUPATEN PEKALONGAN

Filariasis is a systemic infection that caused by filarial worms who live in the tract and the human lymph node and transmitted by mosquitoes. Chronic diseases such as filariasis often disruptive the role, which can distrupt the identity and self-esteem. Someone who have changes in body image, often feel rejected and alienated, it caused the individual shelf concept disturbances experience. Every the healthycanging can be a stressor that affects on the self-concept and family support is very necessary to provide the motivation for improved self-concept. This study aim to determine the relationship between family support for the self concept of patients with Philariasis in Pekalongan. The research design used descriptive correlation study with crossectional aproach. The population of this study is all of patients with chronic filariasis in Pekalongan. Sampling technique used saturated sampling with a sample around 41 patients. Data collection used questionnaires. Analysis of the data used chi square. Chi-square test results obtained ρ values of 0.000 <0.05, this showed had the relationship between family support for the selft concept patients with filariasis in Pekalongan. Nurses are supposed to give information for the patient’s family how important to give motivations for patients who have filariasis in order to recover their self concept.
