Abstract Infectious disease is a disease caused by bacteria. papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) and green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) can overcome infections because they contain active compounds that can inhibit the growth of infectious bacteria. This study was conducted to compare the antibacterial activity test of papaya leaves (Carica papaya L.) and green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) and its combination to the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923 bacteria. This study used disk diffusion method. The data obtained were analyzed using the One Way Anova test and followed by the Post Hoc Tests. The results obtained on papaya leaf extract (Cacica papaya L.) at a concentration of 25%, 50%, and 75% on average were 11.23 ± 0.690, 11.89 ± 1.057, and 13.30 ± 0.708. In the sample of green betel leaf extract (Piper betle L.) the concentration was 25%, 50%, and 75%, the average diameter was 15.67 ± 1,211, 21.25 ± 1,733, and 22.95 ± 1,790. In the sample combination ratio of 1: 1, 1: 3, and 3: 1 the average diameter was 16.26 ± 0.860, 20.52 ± 1.291, and 13.90 ± 0.556. The results of the test can be concluded that the extract of green betel leaf (Piper betle L.) is stronger than papaya leaf extract (Carica papaya L.). If combined in a ratio of 1: 3, it is more effective to inhibit than to be used singly.
