LITERATURE REVIEW PENGARUH PEMBERIAN TRANSCUTANEOUS ELECTRICAL NERVE STIMULATION (TENS) TERHADAP SPASTISITAS OTOT PADA PASIEN PASCA STROKE NON HEMORAGE

ABSTRACT Safira Zulianiar Kiswitono1, Lia Dwi Prafitri2, Sugiharto3 Literature Review: The Effects of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) Administration on Muscle Spasticity in Post-Stroke Non Hemorage Patients. The Introduction: Stroke is a disturbance in brain function that occurs quickly and lasts more than 24 hours due to disruption of blood supply to the brain. Stroke can be divided into hemorage stroke and non hemorage stroke. One of the problems that arise in non-hemorrhagic stroke is spasticity which can cause an increase in abnormalities in muscle tone so that it can affect mobility, walking and moving places. The Objective: This study aimed to conduct a literature review on the effect of TENS administration on muscle spasticity in post-stroke patients without hemorage. The Methods: The design of this study used a literature review analysis with the PIOS method. The measuring instrument used to measure spasticity was the Modified Asworth Scale (MAS). The Results: The results of the pre test and post test showed that the provision of TENS intervention on spasticity decreased significantly with a p value <0.05, which means that there was an effect of TENS administration on decreasing spasticity in post-stroke patients without hemorage. The Conclusion: There was an effect of TENS on decreasing muscle spasticity in post-stroke patients without hemorage. The Suggestion: Physiotherapy professionals can apply TENS as an intervention to reduce spasticity in post-stroke patients without hemorrhage.
